Hello, hello! It is a beautiful Wednesday morning and I've been up and getting things all settled on the blog. What do you think of the new look? 😀 I love it!! The image in the top right is Salty Kisses from Tiddly Inks, at least it is the first version of her. 😀 I thought she looks fabulous up there, but I'll be able to change the image out as I want too!
So..on to a card. I helped my MIL a couple weeks ago with some e-invites to her 60th Birthday, which meant that of course we needed to make Thank you cards. The idea was that I would create the layout and pick the papers (something in red) and then she would color the images with her Spectrum Noirs. I created this card, Tackkort with Spectrum Noirs so she would have a template.
We had 15 cards to make and she had been working non-stop and still had lots of work ahead of her, so I wanted it pretty streamlined. I am so proud of how well she did, she got through 5 or 6 before cramping and looking at the clock - not bad for a noobie colorer! 😀 I took over and busted out the stems for more and she went on and colored up the rosebud. In the end, we both were coloring and getting the cards together. It took us about 4 hours, but 15 gorgeous cards were made.
The layout was cut on my Silhouette Cameo using various cutting files from the Silhouette store. I wanted a layered effect that was both simple and elegant, just like my MIL. The sentiment reads "a heartfelt thanks" in Swedish. 🙂
I tell you what, my MIL's didn't look to far from this either. She really has the gift for it, now just needs to gain confidence! I have to say that Spectrum Noirs are quite different from my ProMarkers and Copics, I have to change how I color with them. Perhaps it is the bullet tip and I've been spoiled with the brush tip of Copics, or perhaps it is something else. I think I'll be buying myself this set of greens of the new generation plus brush tips to give it a go. Either way, they have been a fabulous purchase for my MIL - a great starter to alcohol markers. 😀
